Disappointing news broke last week that all GAA games were postponed due to increasing COVID-19 figures throughout the country. Since then, the GAA have given us a small glimmer of hope that we’ll get to finish out our championships. Their latest press release states that “the GAA, Camogie and LGFA have taken the decision that no club games should take place until further notice and for at least the next two weekends. This position will then be reviewed and we will contact Clubs and Counties with any update on this position when it is available.”
Our annual Aintree Grand National Sweep did not take place this year as race was postponed due to Covid pandemic and many businesses who held sweep cards were closed. Before postponement of race many had paid entry for our sweep and we are therefore proceeding with a draw over the next week where all paid entrants will be included. We will maintain our original prize fund of €2,000 with first prize of €1,000 and a number of smaller prizes. We thank those who supported, those who promoted and all those who continue to support all our weekly lotto and 12 days of Christmas draw.
Speaking of which, did you get your tickets yet for our upcoming 12 Days of Christmas draw?
€20,000 in prizes once again this year, with a top prize of €10,000. It won’t be long coming around so get your tickets, soon.
If you’d like to sell some tickets, contact Sean McDonnell, any committee member, or contact us on Facebook, and we’ll get you sorted with how many or how few tickets you need.

Last week, there was no winner in the Carrick Swan lotto. Last week’s jackpot was €2,500. The numbers were 14 – 22 – 24 – 28. Two match 3s wins €100 each. Well done Breda Reade, Collins Park, and Sean Quinlan, Castle Park. Next Week’s Jackpot is €2,750. The club would like to thank you sincerely for supporting our lotto. Your support helps our young players and also helps our field development project. You can purchase your lotto tickets here: www.carrickswan.com/lotto. Online entry acceptance ceases at midnight each Wednesday with the weekly lotto draw broadcast on Facebook each Thursday evening at 8-30pm. Anybody who wishes to enter the draw but is unable to do so online can contact any lotto promoter or committee member who will arrange envelope entry.
Carrick Swan would like to pass on their condolences to the Rockett family of St. Nicholas Park, on their recent bereavement.
