Carrick Swan senior hurlers travelled to Monroe in need of a lift after a sad week in the club, we played Killenaule in what effectively was a south semi-final, a very early goal for the opposition put us on the back foot and we played catch up thereafter and at the full time whistle the score was Killenaule 2-19 to Swan 1-18. The spirit shown by our team was commendable throughout and they never stopped trying, we now await the county series where we have qualified for the knockout stages.

Footnote: just before the second half began a minutes silence was perfectly observed by all present in honour of our own the late and great Tony Fitzpatrick, in particular our club thanks Killenaule for their lovely gesture in coming to the centre of the field and lining up opposite our boys in unison at a sad time in the club. Killenaule are a club with traditional values and we wish them well in the south final. ‘Na hEalaí Abu
