All in Carrick Swan GAA Club are delighted with the announcement that one of our own will be the recipient of a prestigious Sean Gael Award for services to the GAA.

The name Bernard O’Neill is well known in G.A.A. circles in Tipperary and further afield, affectionately known as ‘Pinky’ he has been a loyal servant to Carrick Swan GAA Club in many capacities, player, trainer, mentor, masseur and physio.

An athlete of some prominence he has won many county, provincial and national titles and he continues to participate at veteran level today. In his youth Bernie was a very speedy forward in both hurling and football but his first love was in helping others to attain peak fitness and to maximise their potential as players.

This year he was still involved with our senior hurlers some 47 years after he first began training Swan teams, his attitude and good humour is as infectious as ever and players respond to his kindhearted nature.

He has been a friend to many down the years and remains a highly valued and respected member of Carrick Swan GAA Club.

The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday November 24th in the Dome in Semple Stadium Thurles from 3.30pm – 6.30pm. Well done Bernie it’s a very well-deserved award, enjoy the day.

Carick Swan Club would like to wish senior hurler, James Waters, a speedy recovery following his knee operation last week. The injury occurred near the end of this year’s South Final. We look forward to seeing Decky back in action in 2020.

Our u21’s played Moyle Rovers in Davin Park on Sunday morning at 12 noon. We started brightly but Moyle Rovers got on top for a 10 minute spell in the first half, and despite trying hard throughout, we couldn’t get the scores we needed to bring us back into the game. We play St. Mary’s in our next game with the fixture to be confirmed.
