Our u21 hurlers travelled to Golden on Saturday last to take on Holycross/Ballycahill in the Co u21 ‘A’ semi-final. We tried hard and were unlucky with a couple of goal chances that would have put the game back in the melting pot in the early exchanges in the second half. Holycross finished strong to run out comfortable winners in the end.
The Swan team and scorers on Saturday were Jack Kelly, Aiden Brunnock, Scott Hogan, Billy Murphy, Shane Torpey, Gavin O’Halloran (1-0, 1-0 frees), Warren Fleming, Daniel Walsh, Eric O’Halloran, Jack Cooke (0-5, 0-5 frees), Lee Dunne, Luke O’Dwyer, Ryan Waters, Aaron Dunne, Dean Waters (0-3, 0-1 frees). Subs: (37th) Paudie Walsh for Luke O’Dwyer, (49th) Ian Holloway for Lee Dunne.
Carrick Swan would like to thank all our u21 players and management for their efforts this year. The club would also like to thank Jason Fleming of JSF construction and The Auld Rogue for sponsoring squad tops for this team recently.
On Friday last, our AGM took place in the clubhouse. The club would like to thank our adult secretary, Sean O’ Shea, juvenile secretary Terry Lonergan, and treasurer Sean McDonnell for the comprehensive reports they presented on the night.
Our 12 Days of Christmas field development draw will begin on Tuesday of this week and runs until Saturday, December 16th where one lucky person will become €10,000 richer. The club would also like to invite you to attend the draw on Saturday, December 16th in The Carraig Hotel. It’s sure to be a great night. The club like to thank all that contributed to the draw. Ticket sellers, collectors, and most of all the buyers. Fundraising events like this help turn pipe dreams into reality and will help turn the new field development on Ballyrichard Road into facilities that will rival any other club in the country.
Some very welcome news arrived late last week, also. We were successful in our application under the Sports Capital Programme Grant Scheme. We received a grant of €72,500 for phase one of the field development. This now means work on installing the new playing surface can commence in early spring.
A lot of our juvenile boys and girls are having their Christmas trips this week. We’d like to sincerely thank all team mentors and helpers for organising these trips. The kids love them. We’d also like to thank you for the tremendous work done with our Juvenile teams throughout the year.
