Carrick Swan Notes Monday August 5th

The 2024 12 Days of Christmas Draw was officially launched at the opening of our new artificial playing pitch and ball wall at Páirc na nEalaí, on Friday night by our county stars Stefan Tobin, Emma O’Halloran, and Aaron O’Halloran. €20,000 in prize money, with a top-prize of €10,000 and lots of chances to win. Tickets cost just €50 again this year.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Jimmy Browne for blessing the new facility, on Friday evening.

To mark the occasion, our U7 Cygnets participated in a blitz on the All-Weather pitch. It was a fantastic evening enjoyed by the large crowd who attended.

Adult Hurling, Football, & Camogie

Our Junior ‘A’ footballers ran out easy winners against Killenaule on Sunday morning in Kilsheelan in the South Quarter-Final. We await our Semi-Final fixture.

There’s a big week on the horizon for our adult hurling teams.

On Wednesday evening, our u19’s travel to Monroe to take on St. Mary’s, in a must-win game to keep our championship hopes alive. The game throws in at 7-15pm. Best of luck, lads. Our u19’s ran out comfortable winners against Mullinahone last week.

On Friday evening, our Junior ‘A’ hurlers take on Cahir in the South Quarter Final in Ned Hall Park, Clonmel Og. This game throws in at 7pm. Best of luck, lads.

The Carrick Swan Premier Intermediate hurlers travel to Cashel on Saturday next to take on Ballina of North Tipperary in Round 2 of the Seamus O’Riain Cup. The game throws in at 6.30pm. Best of luck, lads.

Juvenile Scene

Our u17 game vs Cahir which was due to take place on Monday night (August 5th) was postponed until later in the week. The game has been provisionally refixed for Friday August 16th. Our u17’s will take on Ballingarry on Monday August 12th, in Ballingarry. The game throws in at 7.30pm.

Our u15’s travel to Clonmel Sportsfield on Thursday night to take on St. Mary’s. The game throws in at 7pm. Best of luck, lads.

Our u11 boys took on Grangemockler and Kilsheelan in games last week, on The Green. There was some great hurling on display by all teams while our boys continue to go from strength-to-strength with each passing week. Thanks to both Grangemockler, and Kilsheelan, for attending, also.

On Wednesday, August 7th, 45 young Swan boys and girls between 12 and 18 years of age will undergo Cardiac screening at Páirc na nEalaí. The screening programme, delivered by Advanced Medical Services and funded by the Dillon Quirke Foundation, will perform cardiac screening in sports clubs nationwide with the aim of reducing the incidence of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. Research has shown that cardiac screening can significantly reduce the incidence of SADS. It is a superb initiative and we’re very lucky to be included in it.

Black & White in Blue & Gold

All in the club would like to wish Emma O’Halloran and the Tipperary Junior Camogie ladies the very best of luck vs Laois in next Sunday’s All Ireland Camogie Final. Bring home that cup!

Well done to Alex O’ Dwyer and the South Tipperary u14 footballers who qualified for the Jim Power Cup on Saturday last, defeating Waterford and Carlow on the day.

Club Lotto

The club lotto jackpot is a massive €13,500 this week as there was no winner of last week’s €13,250 jackpot. Last week, as a gesture of thanks to all those who continue to support our weekly lotto, we upped the Match 3 amount to €500, for the week and there was just one match 2 winner. Well done to Bisto Butler who won the €500. The numbers drawn were 08 – 19 – 22 – 23. Well done all.
