On Wednesday last, Carrick Swan Premier Intermediates beat Gortnahoe by a point in the County Hurling league as they continue their preparations for the Seamus O’Riain Cup. Full time score, Carrick Swan 2-14 Gortnahoe 0-19.  The win moves us into 3rd place with 4 points after 3 games.

We welcome St. Mary’s of Clonmel to Páirc na nEalaí on Friday night for our next game. That game throws in at 7pm. Best of luck, lads.

The draws for the 2024 FBD Insurance Seamus O’Riain Cup took place last week. Swan were drawn in Group 1 along with Upperchurch/Drombane, Silvermines and Ballina.

Our Junior ‘A’ hurlers are back in action on Saturday next. We take on Killenaule, in Killenaule, at 4.30pm. Best of luck, lads.

Our Junior ‘B’ ladies lost out to Ballingarry in the County League on Saturday evening. Unlucky, ladies. Ballingarry 0-13 Swan 0-04.

Well done to Aaron O’ Halloran and the Tipperary u20 hurlers who defeated Waterford on Friday night in the Munster Championship. Tipp take on Cork on Friday May 3rd in their next game.

Juvenile Scene

What a week it has been for our u15 footballers. On Saturday, we played 4 games. In the early morning, we travelled to Ballylooby where we took on North Tipperary’s Kilruane MacDonaghs, West Tipperary’s  Clonoulty/Rossmore, and South Tipperary’s Ballyporeen in the County Tipperary Division 3 Peil Na nÓg group stage. A win against Clonoulty, a draw with Kilruane, and a loss to Ballyporeen, saw us qualify for the County Semi-Final where we had to travel to Duneske School Sports Complex in Cahir, to take on Cahir in a thrilling encounter that went to extra-time.

In extra-time, the boys dug deep, and we got over the line with two points to spare. 3-06 to 1-10. The win qualified us for the County Final, which took place the following morning in Templemore against Ballyporeen.

On Sunday, we travelled to Templemore to take on the team that had already beaten us 24 hours previous. A magnificent first half performance set us on our way to becoming the 2024 County Tipperary Division 3 Peil Na nÓg Champions.

Congratulations to the boys and their management team on a fantastic win. It qualifies us for the John West Féile Peile na nÓg Regional Finals which will take place at the end of June.

On Tuesday night, our u13 footballers will play their shield semi-final. At time of writing, the opposition is unknown. Check out the Tipp GAA site for the official fixture closer to Tuesday.

The upcoming summer 2024 Tipperary GAA Kelloggs Cùl Camp takes place between Monday July 8th and Friday July 12th and each child that attends will receive some fantastic Cùl Camp gear that includes a Kelloggs GAA jersey, ¼ zip top and also a backpack. You can book in your child here: https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking/

Well done to Darragh Dunne and the Tipperary Gold team who ran out comfortable winners against Down at the weekend.

Club Lotto

This week’s Carrick Swan lotto jackpot is a whopping €9,750 as there was no winner of our €9,500 jackpot last week. The lotto numbers drawn were 03 – 10 – 25 – 27. There were seven match 3 winners with all of them winning €30 each. Well done, all. Your support helps our young players and also helps with our Field Development Project.

Condolences

Carrick Swan club would like to pass on our condolences to the Regan family of Mooncoin and Faugheen, Maguire family of Grangemockler, and the Lyons family of Grangemockler on their recent bereavements.
