Our u21 footballers lost out to Knockmealdown Gaels on Saturday last in the u21 South football championship opener. Unlucky lads.

Our Minor footballers return to action this weekend. We take on Ballingarry on Sunday at noon, in Cloneen in our 2nd game of the year. Best of luck to the team, and their mentors.

Well done to Shane Torpey who was a member of the Army Cadets team that won the Fergal Maher Cup on Sunday beating Technological University, Tallaght, in the final by a single point. Well done Shane.

On Saturday last, we’d a number of players involved with various South Tipperary Divisional squads. Well done to all Swan players involved. Kieran O’ Donnell represented the club at u16 level while at u15 level, we’d Callum Lanigan, Lee Casey, Aaron O’ Halloran, Callum Walsh, and Evan Hennessy. Sean Foley was a member of the u14 South Tipp team. Well done lads.

On Saturday next, we need your help with some maintenance work on The Green. We need to fill in some holes, and make sure The Green is in top shape for our Juveniles who’ll begin training on it, and playing games on it again in the coming weeks.

The Swan Club are delighted to accept a hurley and medals belonging to one of our late great stars, Jack Murphy. Jack was a majestic midfield player who played with Tipperary at minor championship level in 1936 and 1937. He was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling teams of 1947 and 1948. Jack won 6 south senior hurling medals in 1945/46/47/48/49 and 1952 and of course was instrumental in our county senior hurling championship win in 1947.

To know Jack Murphy was to know a gentleman who loved the Swan and when finished playing Jack got involved with the club as both an administrator and a mentor, he had a lovely quiet way of getting his message across. The presentation from the Murphy family to the club will take place in the new club meeting room at 6.30pm on Friday February 14th and all are invited to attend.

We’d like to remind mentors that a child safeguarding course will take place on February 18th in the Juvenile Hall. All Juvenile mentors need to take this course every three years. For more information, and to book your place, please contact Mary Barrett.

We’d like to remind members that membership for 2020 is now due. You can buy your membership online, via our website, or via any committee member. GET YOUR MEMBERSHIP HERE

On the new field front, installation of our new goalposts and ball-stop netting will begin over the next fortnight, weather permitting.
