Carrick Swan Notes – Monday August 28th

Our Premier Intermediate hurlers had a superb win over Eire Og Annacarty in Cloneen in Round 3 of the County Premier Intermediate Championship on Saturday last. This win means we top our group and qualify for the County Quarter Final.

In the Quarter-Final, we’ll play one of Clonakenny, Killenaule, the winner of Moyne vs St. Mary’s or Gortnahoe. The Quarter-Final will take place in mid-September.

Our Junior B hurlers League Semi-Final game against Killenaule, due to be played Friday last was postponed. It’s re-fixed for this coming Friday night, September 1st. It throws in at 6-30pm in Cloneen.

Our Junior B ladies lost out to St. Cronan’s of Roscrea in Páirc na nEalaí on Saturday last. Unlucky, ladies. We play Cashel on Saturday next, in Cashel in Round 3. Time TBC.

The club would like to say a massive thank you again to William Barrett Building & Plastering Ltd for his generous sponsorship of squad tops to our junior b ladies recently. As always William, your sponsorship is greatly appreciated.

Our u19 boys will take on St. Mary’s of Clonmel in the 2023 South u19 ‘A’ Hurling Final. The South Final takes place on Wednesday at 6.30 in Monroe. Best of luck boys.

Our u17 boys took on Fethard in the South u17 ‘A’ Hurling Semi-Final on Monday night ( August 28). The game throws in at 7pm in Cloneen. Lets get up there to shout them on. Best of luck, boys.

Our u15 boys will play their South Quarter Final in Páirc na nEalaí on Thursday night. We’re awaiting our opponents and the time of the game. Check out our Facebook page later in the week for the official fixture.

Our u13 ‘A’ team came out on top of a great tussle with Clonmel Og where both teams played brilliantly last week in the South Semi-Final. That win qualifies us for the Final where we’ll take on Mullinahone this coming Saturday. Time and venue TBC. Please check out our Facebook page for the official fixture later in the week. Best of luck, boys.

Our u13 ‘D’ team were unlucky to lost out to a good Ballybacon/Grange team on Tuesday last in their Semi-Final. There was some magnificent skills on show by both sets of players in this game which could have gone either way. We’d like to wish Ballybacon best of luck in the final.

The club would like to say well done to our underage players who lined out in Blue & Gold last weekend. Noah Power & Jack Raymond were members of the Tipperary u14 hurling panels who took part in the Tony Forriestal and Sonny Walsh tournaments in Waterford. Well done guys. We look forward to seeing your progress in black and white, and blue and gold in the coming years.

Recently, we launched our 12 Days of Christmas Draw for 2023. The draws take place in December and once again there are €20,000 in prizes up for grabs. Tickets cost just €50 and help massively in our field development efforts. In the coming weeks and months, our floodlights will be fully operational, and we will begin work on a brand new astro-turf and hurling wall area at Páirc na nEalaí. Without your amazing support of our weekly juvenile lotto, and fundraisers like the 12 Days of Christmas Draw, none of this would be possible so thank you for your generosity to date. 2023 Christmas Draw tickets can be purchased on our website or via any of our ticket sellers. Buy Your Tickets Here: https://carrickswan.com/draw

Last week’s Carrick Swan lotto numbers were 12 – 22 – 24 – 28. The jackpot was €7,000 and there was no winner so next week’s jackpot is €7,250. There were however, two match 3 winners who won €100 each. The club would like to thank you sincerely for supporting our lotto. Your support helps our young players and also helps our field development project. You can purchase your lotto tickets online, here: https://carrickswan.com/lotto

Carrick Swan would like to pass on their condolences to the McCarthy family of Carrick-Beg, on their recent bereavement. The club would also like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the families of those involved in the awful tragedy in Clonmel last weekend.
