Only one place to start this week. On Sunday evening we become south senior hurling champions for a record 24th time. First off I would like to congratulate all management and players on this brilliant achievement and thank them for all their hard work and efforts so far this year.
Our south championship campaign started on Friday night July the first in ardfinnan when we played St Mary’s of clonmel . We started like a hurricane and blitzed them inside the first quarter and ran out comfortable winners.
On then to clonmel on Sunday last where we lined out against old rivals and Dan Breen representatives mullinahone. No disrespect to St Mary’s. But we knew this would be a much tougher assignment. The lads again put in an outstanding performance and came out on top on a score line of 1-21 to 1-17. To a man they were excellent work rate fight and determination but like every game they had to be a man of the match. On this occasion it was Gavin O’ Halloran. Gavin was unplayable and scored 3 sideline cuts Joe canning would have been proud of.
Enjoy the celebrations lads well deserved and hopefully we can push on and bring another trophy back to the famed Swan. Club in the weeks and months ahead.
